Mentor System
The Mentor System on TempestCO is referral-linked.
That means you cannot freely pick any player as an apprentice. A mentor can only take players who signed up on the website through that mentor's referral code.
Quick Info
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Who can become your apprentice? | Only players linked to your website referral |
| What checks the system? | Website referral data plus linked game accounts |
| Can one referred user make many apprentices? | No |
| Does the apprentice need a linked website account? | Yes |
How It Works
- A player registers on the website using your referral code.
- That website account links to one or more game accounts.
- In game, mentor requests only succeed if that player belongs to your referral tree.
- Once accepted, the mentor and apprentice relationship is saved on the game server.
Important Restrictions
- You cannot add random players as apprentices.
- You cannot add yourself as an apprentice.
- An apprentice must have a linked website account.
- If the player was not created through your referral code, the request will fail.
- One referred website user can only be used for one apprentice relationship, even if they linked multiple game accounts.
What This Prevents
This setup is mainly there to reduce easy multi-account abuse.
It makes it harder to create normal throwaway game accounts and farm the apprentice system unless those accounts also went through the referral path.
It is not a perfect anti-alt system, but it is much stricter than a normal open mentor system.
If a Request Fails
Usually it means one of these:
- The target player is not online.
- The target player already has a mentor.
- The target player is not part of your website referrals.
- The target player does not have a linked website account.
- That referred website account has already been used for an apprentice relationship.
Summary
If you want someone as an apprentice on TempestCO, they need to have joined through your website referral path first.
