⛏️ Mining and Gem Rates

Mining is the reliable baseline source for Normal gems on TempestCO.

Mining attempts occur approximately every 3 seconds while a character is actively mining with a suitable mining tool. A successful mining rule produces a gem base, then the server applies the quality roll:

3% Super;
17% Refined;
80% Normal.

These are conditional quality chances after a gem reward has been selected.

Mine rules are server-side and use ordered first-success checks. The rates below are configured rule chances, not additive flat percentages.

Gem roles

Dragon Gem: increases physical attack.
Phoenix Gem: increases magic attack.
Rainbow Gem: increases killing experience.
Tortoise Gem: reduces incoming damage by 2%, 4%, or 6% for Normal, Refined, or Super quality.
Fury Gem: increases hitting accuracy.
Kylin Gem: supports item durability.
Violet Gem: increases weapon experience.
Moon Gem: increases spell experience.

Tortoise is defensive and does not increase outgoing damage.

Gem quality and refinement

A gem reward can be Normal, Refined, or Super. The quality roll is applied after the gem type is selected:

80% Normal
17% Refined
3% Super

At Jeweler NPC 3953:

15 Normal gems + 10,000 Silver → 1 Refined gem
15 Refined gems + 100,000 Silver → 1 Super gem

That means 225 Normal gems of the same type can be refined into one Super gem, excluding direct Refined and Super drops.

Economy intent

Each mine has a clear specialization so players can choose a location based on the gem they need:

Twin City supports Dragon, Phoenix, and defensive Tortoise progression;
Phoenix Castle supports Dragon, Rainbow, and defensive Tortoise progression;
Ape City supports Violet, Moon, and defensive Tortoise progression;
Desert City supports Kylin, Fury, and defensive Tortoise progression.

Store and other acquisition sources remain separate from these mining rates.
